Diet and husbandry is extremely important when considering owning an exotic pet as if these things are not correct it will often lead to illness and disease in your exotic pet. We have some generalised information and handouts for you to download from the links below.
It is recommended to have your exotic pet health checked just as if you have a pet dog or cat. We also strongly advise you to get your pet rabbits and guinea pigs sterilised as they can get serious but often preventable diseases just like any other pet. Also pet rabbits and guinea pigs teeth grow throughout their life. This can often lead to dental disease and overgrown teeth so we recommend you get their teeth checked on a regular basis. We also advise you to vaccinate your pet rabbits against the deadly Calicivirus.
If you want to own your own pet reptile you need to have a licence. Each reptile requires a different level of care. To get more information on keeping reptiles, to see what sort of reptile licence you need for each species and to download a Reptile Keepers Licence please go to the following link;
